Iken

Site Significance: 3

This quiet and remote spot is likely where St Botolph founded his monastery - " at Ikanhoe" - as attested to in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, in 654AD. There is a 9th or 10th century Saxon cross in the church. The site is a rural church, without any facilities.
