St Neot (Cornwall)

Site Significance: 3

Believed to be the site where St Neot started a monastery in the 9th century. A century after his death his relics were stolen by Earl Alfric and taken to the town in Huntingdonshire that now bears the saint's name. Outside the church is a magnificent Anglo-Saxon cross which dates from the period of Alfred the Great (870-880). A holy well which was restored in 1852 is located approximately half a mile away on the North-West side of the village.
