Penrhys

Site Significance: 3

The site became a centre of local pilgrimage when a statue of the Virgin Mary miraculously appeared in an oak tree. At the Reformation this was burned by the Protestants. In the early 20th century, pilgrimage was revived and the present stone statue was installed in 1953.
